The DIGA Year 2023 Season Round Up

As is customary, the DIGA year actually starts in November when we had a good turnout at Penn Golf Club. Steve Gibbons set his sights on winning the “Green Jacket” after coming close on several occasions taking pole position in our season long championship

Jim & Dick

For the first event of 2023 we stayed in the Midlands at Market Harborough Golf Club on St Patricks day . The day was won by Malvern lad Jim Daly A top quality course enjoyed by all including Father & son Andy & Andrew Schunke dressed for the occasion

Top 3 – Clive, Steve (winner) & Mark

Our May event was rearranged at the last minute because Redditch G C being waterlogged we managed to play at Hollywood G C just south of Birmingham, I enjoyed the course and will return there again one day, On form Steve Gibbons took the winners slot again to cement his place at the top of the championship table

July we headed to Wells G C in Somerset, Weather was atrocious and we had to end the event at the 12th green due to the flooded greens, leader of the pack at that point was honourable secretary Richard Tookey who gladly took his first win for 23 years

September we moved up north to Stand G C near Manchester again Steve Gibbons came out on top to deservedly win the 2023 DIGA Championship title, Congratulation Steve G who has been a runner up numerous times in the last few years,

Clive Conjures up a Win

Unfortunately playing golf at this time of year is always a bit of a lottery. All clubs use the Winter and early Spring months to rejuvenate, and spruce up their courses, hence we pay reduced “Winter Rates” green fees. This does however mean we get to play some quality courses that might otherwise be out of our price range. Continue reading

2019 to 2021 Championship Winner

Congratulation to Raj Chauhan from Sutton Coldfield who became our 31st champion after the longest ever event which started at Trentham Park back in March 2019 and finished at GlenGorse in October 2021.  Raj took the championship by storm, his worst score being a couple of second places.

He gets to keep the fabled Green jacket for 12 months
